Keep hearing a ghost crying
by ghostmap

The last couple of nights I’ve been in a lot of pain as a result of my surgery that I had two weeks ago. Anyway during my fits of pain I’ve become very angry at this ghost named Sally who is the worst sounding crying ghost I’ve ever heard. For those of you who don’t know when a  ghost is crying when you feel pain they more than likly had the ability to sense pain when they were alive and the afterlife makes this 6th sense very painful.

Anyway, back to Sally. It seems she has convinced herself I’m going to die and now she has been keeping me awake with her crying ever since.

How to find haunted locations
by ghostmap

Ghosts and hauntings have become very popular topics today. A lot of people would like to learn a method to discover locations where they can come across ghosts, as well.
It is advisable to start out ghost hunting at locations near your own home. Here are ways to discover local haunts:
Do some research on the internet for your city, town, state, and region, using words such as “ghosts” and “haunted.” Numerous sites list every location that is even rumored to be haunted. In my experience, just a small percentage of these will be haunted but ghosts are all around so there’s a chance for these places to have ghosts. Whenever the places are near your home, it is worth checking every location.
Check recent news headlines for stories about hauntings.
Read books at the library. Most public libraries have a section about the paranormal. Also look among books describing your local area. Libraries usually have a section specifically about their town or city, and the region in general.
While “ghost” books may be unreliable, they are a good place to start.
Ask people. You may be surprised by how many believe in ghosts, or at least know a few places with ghost stories. Generally, college, high-school and middle school students know rumors about local haunted places.
Check back issues of local newspapers. Most newspapers feature haunted sites in their issues the week before Halloween.
Ask the police. You may be surprised that the police are often the best resource for information about hauntings. Generally skeptics, the police know which places generate complaints about odd activity–noises, weird lights, and so on–but have no reasonable explanations.
Some of the classic cliches can help you to locate places that are haunted. Here are “tried and true” choices for ghost hunters:
Cemeteries are usually mildly haunted. Older cemeteries–from the 19th century and earlier–are more likely to have ghosts. Explore the oldest sections of cemeteries for the best results. However, many cemeteries are closed between dusk and dawn. Be sure to observe local laws whenever you go ghost hunting.
Abandoned building sites are often haunted. People don’t usually walk away from a perfectly good house or building unless there is something significantly wrong with it. What’s wrong may be a ghost.
Theaters–the kind that have a stage the people have performed on–are almost always haunted. Usually, these are fun ghosts. Look for ghosts around the stage, in the audience, backstage, and just outside the doors to the seating areas.
Most colleges and some schools usually have at least one poltergeist. However, you’ll probably have to ask the students for help in finding them. An EMF meter can be especially useful for locating poltergeist activity.
Avoid investigating private homes when you are new to ghost hunting. In addition to issues of safety and the law, people who are troubled by ghosts–or proud of them–have expectations that you may not be able to meet.
These should be a enough ideas to get you started when you are new to ghost hunting or are looking for some good local haunts. However, also rely on your gut instinct. If a location looks haunted, it might be a good place to investigate.
Ghost hunting can be a fun hobby, and even more exciting than TV shows about hauntings. Almost every community has a ghost or two. Use common sense and observe local laws, and you may return home with ghost stories to impress friends and family.

Yuma Territorial Prison Ghosts
by ghostmap

The 1st seven inmates went into the Territorial prison in Yuma, Arizona on July 1, 1876. They were locked into prison cells that they had built with their own hands. In the following thirty-three years, a grand total of 3,069 prisoners, including twenty-nine women, inhabited in the prison house. Their crimes ranged from murder to polygamy, with grand larceny making up the most common. During that time, 111 of the prisoners passed away, mostly from tuberculosis, but all the same, the stories say that a few of them never left this place, even in death.

In spite of the reputation of the Yuma prison being a brutal place, the punishments here were really humane for the time and generally consisted of the “dark cell”, a spot of isolation for the rule breakers, and a ball and chain for those who attempted to escape. It was viewed as a model institution and the prisoners had regular medical attention, access to a good hospital and even the opportunity to learn to read and write while imprisoned. The prison housed one of the first “public” libraries in the territory and visitors were charged a fee to tour the prison and to check out books. One of the earliest electric generating plants in the western states furnished light and ventilation for the cell blocks.

But all was not perfect and by 1907, the prison was severely overcrowded. The convicts constructed a new facility in Florence and the last of them were transferred away from Yuma by September 1909.

From 1910-1914, the former prison buildings were occupied by the Yuma High School and after that, empty cells provided fee lodging for hoboes and drifters who were riding the rails across the country. The Great Depression of the 1920’s saw the prison in use once more as homeless families took up residence, seeking shelter from the elements.

In the years that followed, the prison grew smaller and smaller as local residents saw the stones as free building material for homes and projects. This theft, along with fires, weather and railroad construction destroyed most of what was left of the place. Today, only the cells, the main gate and the tower … and the ghosts…. remain.

The Debtors Prison in the Lisheen Castle Haunted Ruins
by ghostmap

There’s a spot that is apart of the Lisheen Castle Haunted Ruins and not of the newly reconstructed castle that’s been responsible for some of  the most substantial evidence of supernatural happenings to this day. It’s known as the Debtor’s Prison. The debtor’s prison is the  part of the castle where the townspeople who owed the landlord money, would be cast into left to rot. They were given the chance to pay off their debt to the landlord only that was strictly up to the debtors family since the debtor or victim, was locked away and could not do anything. There was no food or water given to the debtor. They were simply locked away in that area and left until somebody paid their debt or they’d die.

Haunted location of the week Alcatraz
by ghostmap

Sorry it’s been so long folks but I’ve been sick. I’m back posting online again and here’s this weeks haunted location. Alcatraz prison also known as the ROCK. All day long this old prison is a busy place, filled with tour guides and visitors and ghosts! Alcatraz is mostactive at night but unfortunately 99% of the people out there will  only see it in the daylight.

Every visitor who comes by boat on Alcatraz follows the very same route that at one time was walked by the felons who came to do time on the Rock. The tourists who visit Alcatraz pass through the warden’s office and the visiting room and sooner or later enter the cell house. After passing the double steel doors, a visitor can see that just past C Block. If they look opposite the visiting room, they will find a metal door that looks as though it was once welded shut. Though the tour guides do not generally acknowledgment it, behind that doorway is the utility corridor where Coy, Cretzer and Hubbard were killed by grenades and bullets in 1946.

It was likewise behind this doorway where a nighttime watchman detected unusual, clanging sounds in 1976. He opened the door and peered down the dark corridor, shining his flashlight on the maze of pipes and conduits. He could see nothing and there were no sounds. When he closed the door, the noises started again. Again, the door was opened up but there was still nothing that could be causing the sounds. The night watchman did not believe in ghosts, so he shut the door again and continued on his way. Some have wondered if the eerie noises may have been the reason why the door was once welded shut? Since that time, this utility corridor has come to be recognized as one of the most haunted spots in the prison.

Alcatraz seems like a cool place to visit and I may go there oneday just to see if I see Al Capone or a differn’t famous ganster who once lived here.

Mystery Hill haunted location of the week
by ghostmap

Approximately forty miles north of the city of Boston, Mass and about twenty-five miles inland from the Atlantic Ocean, is  the greatest, and  oldest, megalithic mysterious location in North America. Mystery Hill, also known as “America’s Stonehenge”, is this weeks haunted location of the week.

Among the main things that stand out at Mystery Hill is a gigantic flat rock, like a great table, residing above the ground on four legs. Around the edge of the stone table is a channel that runs to a spout. This large rock slab is called the “Sacrificial Stone” and it sure enough served that specified a function. The channel allowed for the blood of the human sacrifice to drain off the top.

Beneath the Sacrificial Stone is a eight foot long shaft that leads to an belowground chamber. A priest was placed in the chamber to capture the blood for their God Baal . This place is haunted by hundreds of spirits of men and women who have been sacrificed here by the Phoenician’s from around 780 B.C. to around 642 B.C. Most spirits here are harmless because they were willing sacrifices to Baal and have no desire to have any contact with the living world in fact they go out of their way to convince themselves that we are all part of their imagination.

The 1st time I dealt with a ghost
by ghostmap

I always knew that something was a little different about me and most people found it sort of creepy. You see I can see an entire world that most people are unable to a supernatural world full of spirits who wonder the earth. Many of these spirits are people who have once lived and passed on while others are “elementals” spirits who were never born.

I’ve been asked to tell my readers a little bit about my first experience with a spirit so I briefly go into that now. Many years ago I was sound asleep in my bed and I was woke up by the feel of someone shaking me. I opened my eyes and nobody was there. I went back to sleep and a few hours later the same thing happened. This time I stayed awake in my bed and heard someone saying my name. To make a long story short this spirit’s name was Walter and I was sleeping in his old bedroom. Over the years I was able to hear these spirits more and more til one day I was able to start seeing them.
