The Boggart My Least Favorite Bogey Beast

In Lancashire people come to believe that the boggart (a form of Bogey Beast) is a huge spectral black dog with fiery eyes and a fierce appearance. Most of the time it is believed that the supernatural dogs are harbingers of death or other times going beyond just becoming an old man and snatching a soul to take to the underworld. I for one have always found these creatures to be more of a offshoot of the gremlin with the nature that's more malicious and far less helpful. These creatures tend to cause a chain of events that on the surface seem harmless yet many times the two horrific deaths or even severe maiming.

If you actually unlucky enough to see one of these ugly creatures in person there are only a few ways to actually combat them and go on to live another day. The first would be splashing them with water. It doesn't have to be holy water and please don't get me started on that myth it just has to be real H2O. These creatures even though they appear as dogs are deathly afraid of water much like the common house cat because it messes with their molecular structure and enough water can actually kill them.

If you're unable to get close enough with your water to drive them way as with most supernatural entities the best way to combat them is the burning of Sage. They can't handle the stuff it's as if it overloads their senses and after just a few minutes they will flee the area. I'm not talking about just bring one incense stick your venue for more than that my friend. If you encounter one of these beasts it's best to burn a bundle of Sage which would be about 60 sticks. You need to practically make your home, clothing and even automobile reek from the smell of Sage so that these death workers will leave you alone and never return.

If you have any questions regarding Boggarts or any of the other dogs of death toll free to contact me at help@ghostmap.info and I will walk you through the steps in detail because some of the other dogs do require some additional things be done to ward them off.

Civil War Ghosts Of the Chickamauga Battlefield

As you know the Civil War was one of the bloodiest wars America has taken part in and it makes it even unbearable even think about when you consider it was waged on American soil. This war pitted brother against brother, family against family and it nearly split this great country into two. Nearly 1,000,000 men were either killed or wounded during the duration of this war. Those that did pass away and gave their lives for their cause only seemed to strengthen the United States as a country once the fighting finally did stop.

This war had many bloody battles but two of the most bloody were Chickamauga and Stones River, both in Tennessee. Almost 125,000 men took to the battlefield at Chickamauga from September 19th to the 20th of 1863. When all is said and done, the combined casualties numbered 37,129.

Chickamauga is derived from the ancient Cherokee word which means "River of Death". It truly lived up to its name as death was all around.

As I stated many times on this blog I'm extremely sensitive to the spirit world and back in 1998 I visited this location and became overwhelmed by the activity here to the point that I actually passed out. When I finally came to I noticed a headless spirit clutching a prayer book and desperately in my opinion trying to locate his head. Off to the distance I noticed an officer yelling at the headless corpse saying Garshey get back to your post this is not your first battle soldier.

Off in the distance I also saw rebels charging down a hill bayonets raised and as soon as they reached the other group of soldiers a good half of them retreated back up the hill. In my opinion this may not have been a natural hunting rather a memory like we talked about so many times that due to the horrific nature of events is forever etched into the ground force to repeat itself. The ground here is not farmable due to the large amount of limestone that is so close to the surface and as you might've known limestone a second only to quartz when it comes to the ability to store remnant energy.

If you visit this battle field please send us your own personal stories and photographs and will be more than happy to post them up on this site. Till next time keep it spooky guys.

The Legend Of The Yaquina Bay Lighthouse

Though Yaquina Bay Lighthouse in Newport, Oregon was built in 1871 and only used until the Yaquina Head Lighthouse was constructed. According to legend, one dark and stormy night about 100 years ago, a group of teenagers who were up to no good craft into the abandoned lighthouse to explore its empty hallways, but one of those teenagers never came out. All that was left of the unfortunate young lady was her bloody handkerchief which was found at the bottom of the third floor staircase. Ever since the night that girl met her mysterious fate in the lighthouse, people have claimed to have seen an eerie light in the upstairs window and her cries and moans coming from the darkened interior of the lighthouse.

Walt Muse, who oversees the lighthouse for the state parks department, stated back in 1998 there was a "shred of evidence to support the spooky tale of the young woman who disappeared, leaving only a bloody handkerchief and a few drops of blood behind." Muse claims to have heard all the stories about people seeing lights on the lighthouse in hearing or seeing strange things to support the legend. That's why he was extremely surprised that one night he himself saw a single light in the third-floor window and went to investigate them only to find it was an external reflection coming from the beacon above.

Many people have visited the lighthouse and claimed to have felt something within its walls and have photographed lots of orbs and something passing in front of their cameras like an apparition.

I for one have actually visited this lighthouse nearly a dozen times and even with my sensitivity to spirits I've never had even the slightest inkling that a spirit or anything of a paranormal nature was going on here. Perhaps the expectations of the visitors somehow projected psychically the lights and sounds or maybe the purported activity is nothing more than an overactive imagination longing to experience something paranormal here. Whatever the case is a wonderful and beautiful area to visit so by all means if you're in the area go ahead and stop by and let us know your opinion of the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse.

Avoiding Reincarnation

I got an interesting email today from a reader named Dawn in Connecticut. She was quite worried about death especially reincarnation and wanted to know what to do if anything in order to avoid the possibility of being reincarnated. I wasn't quite sure so I consulted an expert of sorts my friend Matthias and he actually had quite a bit to say about the subject.

The Tibetan Book of the Dead tells you what to do on the 49 levels of consciousness of the bardo plane after you die. The separation of the spirit on the bardo plane from the corpse takes several days, even if it's facilitated by a hpbo-bo (extractor of consciousness). Burial then follows, with this exact time being set by an astrologer. The body is then laid in the fetal position, because the Spirit will go on to be born in this world. According to Tibetans most humans minds are deluded and what we think of reality is actually just an illusion. They say life is nothing but an illusion from which we will all escape a death. Depending on how you live your life you may have to go through many incarnations before becoming sufficiently detached to reach the stability of paradise.

The religion practiced by the people of Tibet stresses detachment and not worrying about the results of one's actions. It preaches acceptance and humility, but if you really want to The Tibetan Book of the Dead does cover how to avoid rebirth. This information comes from a section which may be translated to English as saying "The closing of the door of the place and time for rebirth."

If one wishes to avoid reincarnation you must live a semi-pure life similar to that of a monk or minister. Free from the control of the flesh and anything carnal and have never spilled blood with your own hands. This is supposedly the only way to see the true reality and reach the stability of paradise.

Matthias cautioned that he personally does not believe in reincarnation which is something similar to my own personal beliefs so please take this information with a grain of salt.

Tasty Village In Brooklyn Is Haunted By Mobsters

Tasty Village located at 6205 18th Ave (between 62nd St & 63rd St) Brooklyn, NY 11204 was once Tali's Restaurant and Lounge, the headquarters used by the infamous Mafia hitman turned informer  Salvatore (Sammy Bull) Gravano, were at least two men who co-owned the place with Gravano were murdered.

The main spirit which haunts this location is that of Michael DeBatt, Gravano's partner, who was killed by Sammy The Bull while he was tending bar. His disembodied voice can be heard frequently and he attempts to communicate with patrons by moving their napkins and tablecloths while they're having their dinner. DeBatt has not left this location because he feels wronged that Gravano never paid or atoned for the killing of him and 36 others ( only 18 others are accredited to Gravano by police).if you recall Gravano got immunity on the murder charges which he confessed to and only served four years in a federal prison for racketeering in exchange for testifying against Mafia Don John Gotti.

Joseph "Stymie" D'Angelo also hunts the restaurant because he feels wronged that Gravano had him murdered in order to tie up loose ends so that D'Angelo wouldn't inform on his crimes to the police. D'Angelo is a mischievous one that causes things to knock over and chairs to move because he wants Sammy The Bull Gravano to admit that he had him murdered and not some random member of the Colombo crime family.

To be honest with you in this place spooks me out. There random spirits here from a more gruesome time trapped here because justice was never served in regards to their death. As a result of the paranormal energy that pretty much covers this entire place is pretty much cursed to endure a revolving door of failed restaurants until either Sammy The Bull makes amends or he moves on to the afterlife and a different brand of justice can be dealt.

For the time being however if you're in the mood to experience something paranormal but don't want to go out to some dusty dirty abandoned building in the middle of the night why not try different type of ghost hunting. Perhaps you can experience something ghostly over some really good fried noodles and excellent ribeye. I'm pretty sure the current owners who actually have a wonderful menu wouldn't mind just keep your eye out for anything ghostly and report back to us.

The Haunted Guitar

Patrick Cross is recognized these days as an above average paranormal researcher who travels across the United States and Canada investigating the sites of alleged ghost sightings and hauntings. Exposure to the paranormal came quite early to Cross as he grew up in a house in Rexdale, Toronto, built atop a murder suicide site, and he's mentioned many times growing up and seeing mysterious blood spots appearing and reappearing on the floor in the basement. His family also had an organ upstairs that would play an eerie piece of music even when it was unplugged.

"When I was only five or six years old, go scared me all the time, then I just tried to live with them. I wanted to find out what was happening and why. I began researching the paranormal." recalled Cross.

Back in 1995 Cross, was also an accomplished musician, purchased a white electric guitar in the shape of a "V", a cheap knock off of the more famous guitar made by Gibson, commonly referred to as the Gibson "FLYING V". The guitar purchased by Cross was made of heavy maple wood and had the look of an instrument that had been passed down by numerous musicians. The guitar itself was made in 1989 and was in rather good shape despite the fact it was used. The only problems with it are it had a slight crack on the top of the neck as if it had been dropped or played well. The previous owner had stated the guitar had come from a fire in the Michigan bar, where a band had been playing and apparently a fire broke out. Everything inside the bar was burnt to a crisp except for this guitar which miraculously survived the fire without any burn marks fully intact. A band member had died in the fire, and the car was sold in order to help raise money for the funeral and the guitar eventually ended up in Oakville, Ontario.

Cross said the guitar played fine in the store, he tried it out jamming to some rock riffs and classic chords but when he took it home it seemed out of tune every time he picked it up to play. He thought it was odd that it would play fine in the store but at home it would always seem to de-tune itself. However when he would start playing something like "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple, and "Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendrix, the guitar would play back in tune. It felt as if the guitar had a mind of its own and it liked a dark, heavy sound.

After a few days, Cross began to hear really weird sounds in his apartment. "The noises seemed to be coming from the closet in the second bedroom where the guitar was stored. I opened the closet door, heard nothing, looked at the guitar, looked around, and didn't see anything but I heard what sounded like men's voices arguing with each other. It was as if an argument was going on in the closet between two men. One sounded Spanish, the other Mexican, and they were talking about money. I heard this from the front room, and then went into the bedroom to the closet to look. Again, everything stopped."

As the days passed, where things begin to happen inside the apartment such as items would disappear, shadows on the wall, the sound of footsteps and banging. Doors began to open on their own lights would turn on and off and even the television would turn on hours after being turned off. Cross later began to use the guitar in his rock band "SCI-FI Prodigy" and strange things began to happen at rehearsals and live performances. The most chilling of which was when during a live performance a weird voice started to come through one of the music amplifiers coinciding with the lighting going out.

"As we started playing our songs, the haunted guitar would go out of tune on the fifth and sixth strings, repeatedly. I had to put it down and play my other guitar, because this guitar refused to be played. If we started playing songs with negative lyrics are heavy metal, the guitar would play perfectly fine. The guitar particularly liked one song I wrote and played called "Something Is out There" which is all about ghost in evil entities with emphasis on something coming to get you. It's an X-Files type feeling. This was one of the very few songs during which the guitar would stay in tune."

Cross began to take pictures around the guitar and investigate why all these bizarre things were happening. He captured some interesting orb pictures around the guitar and occasionally a missed figure was captured in the photographs around the guitar as well.

Over the years psychics have claimed that they have felt weird around his guitar and expressed their opinion that it contains an evil presence. Eugenea Macer-Story and accomplished psychic allegedly was able to channel the spirit of the main entity trapped in the guitar. She stated that the entity had a controlling effect on anyone who touched or felt the guitar. It seemed to have intelligence which suggested it was actually a spirit and not a demon when it allegedly told Eugenia that it did not like being put on display. It wanted to cause evil and destruction, longing to flying like a condor with large wings and even calling itself, "Eye of the Condor" which is a popular song in Mexico and South America were condors to live in the wild. The spirit allegedly also said it wanted the owner of the guitar to kill with it swinging it like an axe or even start fires.

The entity that possessed the guitar one on, saying he had started many fires and survives when all else burned. It claimed to have had been spawned in order to spread evil throughout the world.

On the advice of Eugenia, Cross put the guitar in its case and covered it with salt in order to contain its energy from even the case. Cross then sent out to destroy the guitar covering it with gas and catching on fire. He was horrified when he discovered he too was on fire but eventually put out the flames that engulfed him and watched happily as a guitar one up in smoke.

I find this story a little ridiculous but I have no proof that it did not occur and am unable to actually examine the guitar because it allegedly was destroyed in a fire. Whether or not the story is true it is stories like this that hurt the whole community because they just seem very far-fetched and lack any real documentation to prove or disprove their validity. Patrick Cross Is considered by many to be an authority when it comes to paranormal investigation but this is from his early days and I don't know it just has the B.S. feeling to it. In all my years of dealing with the paranormal I've never seen a valid case of an object being the subject of a haunting by a ghost i.e. intelligent life form I have however seen a few cases where I suspect an object may be haunted by demonic entity but those lack the ability to communicate on a level both Cross and the psychic Eugenea Macer-Story claim to have experienced. I only share this with you because I wanted my readers to see some of the lunacy that is causing our community to be looked upon as being inhabited by pathological liars and the clinically insane.

As always I offer the subject of any of my posts the opportunity to dispute what I'm saying about them and I am even willing to to put up on my website an unedited response if they are so willing to send me one. Till next time keep a spooky folks and keep us posted on any of your experiences or viewpoints.

The Weeping Bridge Of Stow Vermont

Old-Timers in the region say that the ghost that haunts  the covered bridge on Hollow Road is that of a young bride who was left waiting at the alter by an irresponsible groom. The jilted bride left the church, heading for her elusive lovers home near the bridge on Hollow Road. As she was crossing the bridge, something in the distance startled her horse, causing it to bolt and throw her to her death on the rocks below the bridge.

Traditionally, in the early morning hours the sorrowing almost bride returns to search for the lover who betrayed her and humiliated her on what was supposed to be their wedding day. Motorist who travel down when it's still dark outside have reported seeing the image of a young woman dressed in a bridal gown traveling by horse back down the road that leads to the bridge and eventually across the bridge. Those who have made eye contact with her have reported she has an angry look on her face and the glare she gives sends shivers down the spines. The ghost is said to only make it about 200 yards past the bridge before vanishing completely.

This is a common type of occurrence among most hauntings, a strong emotional connection to an event or location is required in order to cause the spirit to remain bound to a location.

Blue Bell Hill Ghost

Since 1965 dozens of drivers have slammed on their brakes to avoid hitting a pretty young woman in a flowing white dress standing in the road on Blue Bell Hill in Maidstone, England. The Phantom is said to be that of a woman who was to have been a bridesmaid for her best friend when she died in a car crash the night before the wedding. Her spirit appears still appears in her flowing dress as she attempts to get to the wedding on time but is always unsuccessful as her spirit cannot get passed the accident scene.

Monk of Basildon Ghost

A number of cleaning ladies that work the overnight shift at a factory near Holy Cross Church in Basildon, England have claimed to have seen a phantom monk on several occasions and conveyed their story to us. The women usually get off work around 4 AM, and it is as they are leaving the factory and walking past the old church that they often see the ghost. They all agree the ghost is definitely a monk, and it walks across the Church Road before it disappears among the graves in the churchyard.

One of the women stated that she was once riding her bicycle when she saw the ghost directly in front of her. Unable to stop her bicycle quickly enough, she drove right through the spirit. She said she did not feel any impact whatsoever, but she did describe the moment she drove through the ghost as cold and clammy.

Witnesses all mentioned that the monk wears a red cowl and has a chalk white face that is set in a kind of grim mask. Some have described the ghostly monk as transparent. Others say that the monks feet don't seem to be touching the ground, as if he was floating. I'm convinced that this is not actually a ghost but a residual moment memory. Basically what that means at some point there was a monk who walked the area around the church quite frequently in something traumatic happened to him. The moment is it forever repeated and because it happened so long ago the area around the church has changed extensively making the ground much lower than it used to be. So as the monk’s steps or repeated the ground he once walked upon no longer exists so it gives the appearance of floating.
