Man has always been fascinated with ghosts, ogres, goblins and spirits. This fascination was also accompanied with fear from them. With the passage of time, these feelings of fear and fascination culminated into various festivals. Halloween is one such festival, which happens to be one of the most popular occasions for Christians across the world. Although it is more popular in America and the European nations, it is getting popular across the world and people cutting across religious lines are celebrating this wonderful occasion. Although it is associated with ghosts, spirits, dead and the haunted, the occasion is celebrated with great gusto and is very popular, especially amongst the kids, who thoroughly enjoy this day. However, if Halloween celebrations are enjoyable, the history behind the tradition is no less appealing in itself.

As it is, the festival is believed to have originated from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain; and that the name Halloween is an abbreviated form of “All Hallows’ Even”. This festival was originally a festivity marking the end of the harvest season. It was a common belief among the Celts that on October 31, the boundaries between the living and the dead dissolved, which made the dead dangerous for those who were alive. It was believed that the dead posed severe threats to the living, in the form of epidemics, or damaged crops. In order to avoid such a condition, they would form bonfires, in which the bones of the slaughtered livestock used to be thrown in. Along with that, they also used to wear costumes and masks in order to pacify or placate the evil spirits.

In the modern times, however, Halloween has little to do, with appeasing the dead, and it is mainly about celebrations, which incidentally have been a major contributory factor in popularizing the festival. Horror movies have been another contributory factor, as far as the rise in popularity of the festivity is concerned. As a matter of fact, it was horror movies, which took this tradition to places far and wide. The Halloween movie series is one such example, which played a major role in the ever growing popularity of Halloween. Another major factor which has contributed to the rise in popularity of the festival has been that of the Halloween pumpkin. The Halloween tradition of carving a face out of pumpkins comes from the ancient Celtic tradition of placing a skeleton, on the windows, to represent the dead. This was replaced by carving faces on vegetables, and today, a Halloween pumpkin is synonymous with the celebration.

Apart from the pumpkin, Halloween celebrations also include several activities, such as trick-or-treat, wearing Halloween costumes, bonfires, ghost tours, costume parties, trips to haunted sites, carving jack-o’-lanterns, reading horror stories, as well as watching horror movies. Originally, Halloween costumes and masks used to be made individually. These days, however, the costumes and masks are readily available in the market. And, since Halloween is round the corner, it is time that you buy your own set of Halloween masks, costumes, latest horror stories and horror movies.

Once you have done that tell the spirits and negative energy to leave and it is unwelcomed. Next sprinkle salt crystals at all the entryways and tell the spirits they are not allowed to reenter. This works everytime

The existence of ghosts has been debated for hundreds of years. It’s only in modern times with technology having advanced to it’s current stage that we might now capture on film and audio what a lot of people consider to be images of the supernatural. The questions of how come some can and yet others can’t see or sense the presense of these entities has been contested with a lot of theories both for and against the subject of spirits. One such cause for speculation is do our children see and sense what many adults either cannot or will not see?

One theory is that children have not had years to adjust their thinking and have not had the time to train themselves as to what to accept or not accept as reality like adults have. Adults program their thinking and consequently refuse certain images, noises, and feeling as real simply because in our minds we cannot accept impossible or unproven science.

Some parents unknowingly start to teach and train their children at a very young age to block these images. They do it out of protection and misunderstanding of the situation. How many parents have tucked their little ones back into bed with the words that they thought were reassuring; there are no such things as ghosts, you just had a bad dream, it wasn’t real, it was just your imagination? I think most parents are guilty of this including myself. How many parents are guilty of telling their children that their imaginary friend is not real, maybe not realizing that not only is that friend real but a ghost? I am sure it has happened before. Do you ever wonder if any of those bad dreams, those images seen in the night, those imaginary friends how many may actually be ghosts that for whatever reason have shown themselves to a child?

When we tell our children it was just a bad dream we may inadvertently teaching them to mistrust what they may have actually be seeing. Eventually training themselves to block what they have been taught cannot be real. Where as the opposite side of this theory; the parent who teaches their children that sometimes for whatever reason, a spirit may linger after death,
is leaving a space in that child to be able to accept the vision, the noise or the feeling of the supernatural. Could this be why some people are able to accept the supernatural with an open mind and yet others cannot? Does the door get shut at childhood or can it remain open? This is just one of the may theories used to explain why children see more of the supernatural world
then adults do.

Are ghost’s real? My answer is an absolute yes. In fact I’ve been able to communicate with them for most of my life.  Don’t believe me? It’s ok I get that a lot but I know the truth is :

2) Every since I had a firsthand near death experience I’ve been like a ghost lightning Rod.

It is rather annoying because at time I get overwhelmed and have difficultly blocking them out when I don’t want to speak to them.
