The Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield will offer fifteen overnight Ghost Hunts in the old prison. The hunts, by the nonprofit Mansfield Reformatory Preservation Society, will take place on March 13 and 27; April 10 and 24; May 7; June 4, 12 and 25; July 31; Aug. 14 and 28; Sept. 3; Nov. 12 and 20; and Dec. 11.

Each self-guided hunt will be limited to a hundred participants. The hunts will run from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Pizza and soft drinks will be provided. Tickets are $65.

Additionally, the society is offering 8 Ghost Walks through dark halls and corridors in the prison house.

The dates for the guided tours are May 23, June 6 and 18, July 9 and 25, Aug. 20 and 29 and Sept. 5. These tours run from 8 to 10 p.m.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children 12-17.

The society also offers Sunday afternoon tours from May through early September. There are three different tours and they start from 1 to 4 p.m. on a rotating basis every 15 minutes.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children 7 to 17. Discounts are available for multiple tours.

The prison was built in 1886 and housed an estimated 154,000 prisoners in its 94 years.

It’s appeared in such films as The Shawshank Redemption and Air Force One.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the reformatory boasts the world’s largest free-standing steel cell block.
